Urban Funk Summer Course
3rd August to 7th August


A week's hip hop dance course at Whippingham Community Centre.  Come and learn basic break dance, popping and locking and hip hop dance.  The funky week will conclude with fruit smoothies and a performance for all friends and families.

Venue: East Cowes Methodist and Whippingham Community Centre
Cost: £90 (there is a sibling discount of 25% and group discount as long as there is at least one new member within the group booking)
 Time: 10am-4pm
Date: Monday 3rd-Friday 7th August
 
We will also be performing as part of Cowes Week festival this year.

The Great Castle Quest at Carisbrooke Castle

6th August to 10th August

Youngsters can follow a trail led by clues around the castle to embark on the Great Castle Quest and win a small prize.  Meet the resident donkeys too!

Barnardo's Ryde Community Summer Scheme

Lots of fun activities including sports, arts and crafts, circus skills, dance, drama, cookery, kung fu, gardening.

For children aged 8 to 12 living or attending schools in Ryde in the areas as follows -

East Ryde – 28, 29 and 30 July and 4, 5, 6 August at Bishop Lovett Middle School
West Ryde – 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26 August at Mayfield Middle School

9.30am to 12.45pm each day.  Cost only £5 per child per day.  Concessionary places available for those on low income.

17th & 18th Aug - 7-10 Yrs Old
24th & 25th Aug - 11-13 Yrs Old
 
All days start at 9.30 and finish at 12.30pm (3 hours a day)

The Isle of Wight Garlic Festival

Returns this year. Showcasing the best of local produce, music, displays, entertainment, including full range of garlic products.

Location: On the A3056 - at the Fighting Cocks Crossroads, near Newchurch.

Prices: adults £7.50; senior £6.50 children £4
Tickets are bought at the gate on the day.




The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary will be holding their two day extravaganza just outside of Wroxall on the 30th & 31st August

There’ll be live bands on stage between 11am - 6pm on both days, loads of children’s entertainment, a beer tent, food hall and a tented village of stall holders.

The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has been going since 1987 and cares for donkeys in distress or otherwise in need of care and attention, and provides a safe and permanent home for them.

 



ROCKPOOL RUMMAGE Friday 14th August from 10 am – 12 noon at Bembridge Ledges. Cost: Donations welcome.

Join Wildlife Trust staff to explore the wildlife of the rocky shore at Bembridge. Park at the Lane End car park near the Lifeboat Station. Walk down the steps onto the beach and turn right. Walk along the beach for approx 100 yards and you will find us. Make sure you wear old sandals or pumps that you don’t mind getting wet, sun cream and a hat. You can bring a net and bucket if you have them. Don’t forget to bring drinking water and some money for the car park (and an ice cream afterwards!)

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. (Maximum of 3 children per adult). Sorry, no dogs. Unsuitable for buggies. Telephone 529199 or 533180 to book your place.


MINIBEAST SAFARI Tuesday 25th August from 2 pm – 4 pm at Arreton Down. Cost: Donations welcome.

An afternoon of family activities to discover the chalk grassland wildlife living on this lovely Wildlife Trust reserve. Park at the chalk pit entrance opposite Burnt House Lane GR 534 873. Dinosaur Isle

Dinosaur Isle is providing a number of GUIDED FOSSIL WALKS during the summer holidays.

Trips currently run at Yaverland, Shanklin and Brook.

These are advertised on our Events webpage www.dinosaurisle.com/events.aspx.

They are suitable for families; however there will be a walk at Ventnor, which due to its steep paths will only be suitable for teenagers and adults.

The costs for the guided walks is Adults £4, children (age 3-15) £2.40, Family group (2+2) £12.50, Concession (student/pensioner) £3.60

Numbers on walks are limited so they must be pre-booked by phoning us on 01983 404344 or visiting the Dinosaur Isle shop at Culver Parade, Sandown, IW PO36 8QA

DRAWING AND PAINTING

 

Our Education Room at Dinosaur Isle will be open for visitors to use for drawing, colouring and painting (as part of their visit).

Little Kickers Football Activity Classes for boys and girls

Approved football activity classes for kids from 2 years to 5 years - where learning's a ball!

Why do we get a kick out of every class we run? It's fun. Our coaches have fun teaching, the children have fun learning new skills and our parents relax and enjoy a friendly chat. So whether you're nurturing a future star or just want a happier, healthier child - why not sign up and have a ball with us!

Coaching classes run as a block of 6 sessions over a period of 6 weeks (45 minute sessions). We operate a rolling programme - so you can join your Little Kicker at anytime throughout the year.

Ryde Sports Centre on a Saturday - Junior Kickers (2 years to 3.5 years) 10.15am to 11.00am

Mighty Kickers (3.5 years to 5 years) 11.15am to 12noon

Medina Leisure Centre on a Saturday - Junior Kickers (2 years to 3.5 years) 1.15pm to 2.00pm
